Michelle Manjarrez, M.Ed
Founder - Educator - Healer
Michelle is inspired by people and their strength to deal with adversity. A special education teacher, adjunct professor and college administrator by profession and an ardent humanitarian by birth, she has worked, supported, and learned from special people and organizations since the beginning of time.
Holistic medicine has been part of her existence since childhood. So, when confronted with a dire health situation with one of her daughters, they both agreed on indigenous plant medicine from the Amazon as a healing modality. It worked! Her daughter is now a thriving young adult who credits her recovery to ancient plant medicine, and the powerful shamanic energy and teachings she experienced. Michelle began a journey of researching all things natural.
A few years later she became her mother’s primary caregiver after a sudden and aggressive multiple myeloma diagnosis. Hospitalized for months, she never left her side and was amazed by her mother’s internal peace in the midst of chaos. Her mother credits her attitude and much of her recovery to a long-standing practice of Reiki, breathing techniques and acupuncture. Michelle believes everybody is different, so her research is now focused on identifying other cancer-specific modalities that may also improve overall health and wellbeing. She believes that when confronted with any life-changing diagnoses, knowledge about available options and experiencing them can make all the difference. During this process she questioned, which holistic treatments/ diet / supplements would improve her mother’s life quality even further? Which will she be willing / able to incorporate into her daily life consistently? During the most nerve-racking of circumstances, Michelle felt overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information available, and met many others seeking direction. In addition, she knew that everyone is different! She was driven to find a better formula to quickly and effectively involve others in their own holistic health. Guests come in contact with a comprehensive menu of therapies and choose those that suit them, the way her mother and she created her very own “holistic recovery route”. Michelle believes that without knowledge and experience – there is no choice.
This is how LifeTribe Retreats was born!
Michelle enjoys researching about how to empower ourselves at all levels, searching for answers from ancient history and current best practices. She is fond of all things adventurous including travel off the beaten path, connecting with fellow humans anywhere, scuba diving and riding motorcycles.
Lisa Price, MS, ND
Nutrition Coach- Research Liaison Licensed Naturopathic Physician - Research Scientist - Adjunct Faculty Bastyr University - Author - Radio host
Lisa has been involved with the delivery of complimentary cancer care for the last twelve years in an integrative setting with conventional oncologists. She is absolutely convinced, as a clinician and a researcher, that appropriate diet, exercise and emotional well-being play an essential role in getting through the different cancer treatment phases well, and the promotion of remission. This potential for her patients excites her.
Lisa’s early training and professional career as a research scientist was in biochemistry, and later (1998) she earned a degree in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University where she has been an adjunct professor since 2003. Lisa was awarded a National Institute of Health Research Fellowship in 2005 to 2010 which focused on the immunological effects of a natural product on specific cells in women burdened by breast cancer and those that were not. After accepting an invitation to practice in a specialty integrative clinic in the Pacific Northwest, she co-authored a book Cooking through Cancer to Recovery (Demos Helath Publishing, 2015) and began hosting a regular radio show promoting different aspects of complimentary care during cancer treatment and beyond.
Lisa currently lives and is in active clinical practice in the Pacific Northwest where she lives with her two daughters and her partner. She is currently working on other projects regarding specific nutrition during cancer treatment.

Rodrigo Montoya Suárez, MD
Family Physician-Acupuncturist
Rodrigo is passionate about acupuncture and its positive effects on patients. It was 27 years ago, with a degree in family medicine from the UNAM in Mexico City, when he chose to complement his medical practice with oriental medicine. He trained in Japanese acupuncture Ryodoraku and traditional Chinese acupuncture. Upon retiring, Rodrigo completed a diploma of integrative medicine. He is excited to continue learning and sharing the benefits of his acupuncture practice with others.
Rodrigo worked in the Mexican public health care system (IMSS) for 29 years and was president of the social branch for his community’s Pensioner’s Association from 2013 to 2016. He also served as their press and propaganda commissioner.
Originally from Mexico City, Rodrigo currently lives in Cuernavaca with his wife Maria, where they raised both of their sons.
Maria Buenaventura Salas Blas, MD
Family Physician-Lymphatic Massage Therapist-Emotional Coach
Maria is dedicated to helping others. A Family Medicine physician with degrees from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), she practiced at the biggest public hospital in Mexico for 27 years.
Choosing to complement her practice with alternative modalities, she became certified in lymphatic massage therapy. She finds it to be one of the most complete body detoxifying methods. It also improves systemic circulation and serves as a relaxation technique, reducing stress and insomnia. She has seen outstanding results with her patients.
Not yet satisfied, she became an emotional coach and conducts frequent group workshops in her community of Cuernavaca. Homeopathy is Marias new interest, but she is sure it will not be the end of her studies and practice in holistic wellness. She is entirely dedicated to helping others.
Edgar Ramirez
QHHT Practitioner-Reiki Practitioner
Edgar is a student of life and most of all a dreamer who loves to empower others to connect to their essence and to live an uncompromised life. He has worked in various environments where he has learned different healing Therapeutic Techniques (e.g. ERT, Muscle testing, REST)
He became a registered QHHT and Reiki practitioner to help others overcome life circumstances that at times can be overwhelming, but most importantly to help himself and others to remember who we truly are.
Edgar believes that we are not only physical beings but more vibrational beings and that our essence/soul is one of the most important aspects of our lives, from that everything else comes. His purpose is to help people connect to that essence and in doing so, allow the natural healing process to occur in all aspects of our lives, he believes we are meant to be healthy, whole, and complete.
Edgar became a Reiki practitioner in 2015, studying and learning the lineage of Usui Reiki. Reiki meaning “life force energy” is a Japanese Technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing.
That same year he became a registered QHHT practitioner under Dolores Cannon and Julia Cannon, and has had the opportunity to witness many amazing healings. QHHT allows the individual to experience a journey of consciousness through a specific technique of hypnosis, developed and refined by Dolores Cannon over several decades of hypnotherapy. This journey of consciousness allows the individual to find the answers to life’s pressing questions and to remember that all answers and healing lie within.
Edgar has lived in Mexico, USA, and Canada. He loves traveling and embarking on new adventures that allow him to connect with other individuals to share and to learn. He is now in Mexico where he plans to establish a holistic retreat center and community, to empower others to be the best and most amazing version of themselves.
Leslie Valle-Montoya, MD
Physician
Leslie is equipped with the knowledge and tools to help change lives for the better. Ever since being rushed into an operating room at age 9, for a burst appendix, she knew she wanted to be just like that person who saved her life. She believes integrative medicine gives patients the option to become empowered, choose, and combine functional medicine with alternative medicine to heal and rejuvenate. Her experience with cancer wellness programs has been life changing. She learned that by working with the mind/body/spirit, one can reach optimum health and a resilient outcome. She wants you to experience a healthy living and a personal transformation that guides you to a full life.
Leslie holds two bachelor degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in Spanish literature and in Latin American Iberian studies. Following her dream, she graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara with a medical degree and completed her medical internship in La Paz, Baja California in 2013- 2014. That is where she fell in love. Not only with its virgin beaches, aqua blue water and Baja fish tacos; but with the best companion and colleague that she could ask for. Leslie married Dr. Hugo Montoya in June 2016.
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, she considers herself spoiled by the sheer beauty of the central coast of California - mountains as backdrops and Mediterranean-style stucco buildings with red tile rooftops, also known as “The American Riviera.” Leslie is currently living in Mexico City with her husband, Dr. Hugo Montoya.
Hugo Montoya Salas, MD
Physician
Hugo is a second-generation physician. Both of his parents enrich the field of medicine by offering holistic healing through acupuncture and lymphatic massages. Following in their footsteps, he is choosing an integrative approach to wellness. After completing his medical degree, he had the opportunity to work with cancer wellness programs. Hugo created meaningful and long-lasting relationships with survivors and became convinced that a balance of emotional and mental-health tools proves as important as the physical aspect of the disease. He believes that each person has the right to choose the type of medicine and wellness treatment that best serves them – whether it’s allopathic, alternative or a combination of both.
Hugo graduated with an MD degree from La Salle University and completed a year of medical internship in La Paz, Baja California Sur and a year of social service in Mexico City. Pursuing a specialization in orthopedic surgery, he was accepted for residency at the top trauma/orthopedics hospital in Mexico. It was within a few months that he decided to withdraw from the program. He realized that training at the best trauma hospital was not going to prepare him to be the best physician that he can be. Now, this excites him to pursue new ventures that will allow him to the best that he can be.
Hugo was born in Mexico City and raised in Cuernavaca, Morelos. He is currently living with his wife, Dr. Leslie Valle-Montoya in Mexico City.
